About Daniel

Dr Daniel Reed is a social historian, who resesarches the church and influential figures in society, particularly in the eighteenth century. His most recent publication is The Society for the Reformation of Manners in Hull, 1698 – 1706: ‘Favour’d With the Lord’s Wonders’, and he co-edits The Journal of Religious History, Literature and Culture.


He has over 10 years’ professional experience in regional archives services, and his published research includes studies of early regional newspapers in Britain; the Anglican Church in the eighteenth-century; and on patronage and reputation, often of leading churchmen. He was also a Fellow of the Georgian Papers Programme in 2016/17.
