Welcome

The Westminster Oxford Research Network was established in 2024. It engages with Church Initiatives and Policy in a lineage of Methodist involvement with Higher Education that can be traced to 1851 and the foundation of Westminster College, first in London, and then in Oxford from 1959.

The Network can be found in the newly opened Gibbs Library at Wesley Memorial Church, Oxford, where our collections can also be accessed.

This website also reflects the activities of the Oxford Centre for Methodism and Church History (Oxford Brookes University), which was closed in July 2024. Its collections are now held by the Network, and we also endeavour to continue many of its research activities.

For information on the closure of the Centre, and the establishment of the Network and our new Research Space, why not have a read of this Methodist Church blog post?
